Tidbit on the terms Right & Left in Politics

Politics truly is not Right - Left. That is a hold over from 1789 France King Louis 16th days, a convenience of terms.  The enlightened sat on one side and the status quo sat on the other of the king.  The US Congress picked up the practice.  Politics is more like a star chart with ideas all over the place.  Each party grabs ideas here and there, with it changing person to person within the party.  Parties over lap in ideals, pulling ideas from the same places as well as other. I grab from the area where Libertarians, Constitutionalist, Conservatives, Republicans do.  Truth is Democrats, Green and Liberals pull from some of these same areas as Libertarians, Conservatives, Republicans and Constitutionalist.
Nazis and Communist believe Government and police state are supreme but does that make them both left or right?  The big difference between the 2 - communist government controlled the business sector, nazi government only partially controlled it.  Just used a broad brush to make the point. The Right - Left denotation only gives ammunition to the 2 party system to fend off the rise of other parties and polarize the citizenry.  In recent years it has been very effective in reducing civil debate and finding common ground to govern.
